Ember Psychological Services was created to be a safe space for someone seeking to work with a psychologist who is genuine and aims to help you be your authentic self in and outside of therapy. Sonja Burke, Psy.D.

Dr. Burke is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Colorado (license number: PSY.0004747) and also holds a PSYPACT/ APIT credential allowing her to practice telepsychology in all approved states https://psypact.gov/mpage/psypactmap

Dr. Burke is originally from Iowa and received her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa.  Her doctoral training was completed in programs with APA Accreditation. She earned her Doctorate of Psychology in the Clinical-Community Psy.D. program at the University of La Verne and her doctoral internship was at the University of Northern Colorado Counseling Center.

As a licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Burke worked at Cottonwood Creek Wellness Center, a private group practice where she provided individual therapy and conducted psychological assessments. She also served as the clinical director and was responsible for the supervision and training of the other mental health clinicians.  

Dr. Burke has experience in working with a variety of presenting concerns. She is especially passionate about working with survivors of sexual trauma. She also deeply enjoys supporting individuals with identity exploration in various stages of life. 

Dr. Burke’s approach is collaborative and her promise is to always be genuine. Although her training is grounded in cognitive-behavioral therapy, she uses a trauma informed perspective and tailors treatment to fit the specific needs and cultural considerations of each client she works with.

In her free time, Dr. Burke loves spending time with her family, being outdoors, and exploring new places.
